Gold Reef City, a town built on a gold mine, is not to be missed. For a historical and informative stance one can see the pouring of the gold and visit the old printing press. Pretoria is home to some of the country's most interesting landmarks, including the Union Buildings, Voortrekker Monument and Melrose House. During the spring months of October and November the streets of Pretoria come alive with the mauve blossom of the Jacarranda tree, adding a charming ambience to the bustling capital.
