KwaZulu-Natal offers a variety of highlights, ranging from
stark streches of grassland which formed the backdrop to the
Boer War, to lush sub-tropical wetlands, English-like countryside,
towering mountains and sunny beaches. The
region also has an excellent selection of game reserves.
Known
as the 'Kingdom of the Zulu', the province has a rich cultural
heritage. The birthplace of the Zulu nation, there are many
remnants of these proud people. The city of Durban, situated
on the coastline, is a cultural fusion of native Zulus, Indians
and European settlers, and is ddefinitely well worth a visit.

Further in-land is the lush farmland of the Natal Midlands.
The main attraction is the arts and crafts trail which studs
the rolling green hills - the renowned Midlands Meander. In
1985 a group of artists, potters and weavers created the Meander,
establishing South Africa's original arts and crafts route.
Beyond the Midlands lie the towering peaks of the Drakensberg.
